Course Outline

Discover Ireland’s rich cultural heritage through an immersive 26-hour Erasmus+ training course, Exploring Irish Culture. Designed for educators, cultural facilitators, language teachers, and lifelong learners, this programme responds to the growing need for authentic, experience-based cultural learning in European classrooms. As societies become increasingly diverse, educators are seeking deeper understanding of cultural identity, storytelling traditions, and the lived experiences that shape modern Europe—making Ireland an ideal context for exploration.

Grounded in experiential learning principles, this course blends classroom-based sessions with excursions, creative workshops, and reflective activities that bring culture to life. Participants will journey through Ireland’s history, folklore, literature, music, sport, and natural landscapes while simultaneously strengthening their own intercultural competence and

communication skills.

Each day integrates hands-on learning, group collaboration, and guided exploration. Through discussions, storytelling, photo tasks, and nature-based reflection, participants will engage with Irish identity from multiple perspectives—historical, artistic, linguistic, and social.

Opportunities for peer learning, creative expression, and cultural immersion form a core part of the experience, encouraging participants to connect, share insights, and draw inspiration for their own educational contexts.

A highlight of the programme is the emphasis on Ireland’s living cultural traditions. Through workshops in Irish dance, music, and storytelling—alongside visits to museums, heritage centres, and iconic landscapes—participants encounter culture not as a concept but as a living, evolving practice. These sessions help educators and cultural practitioners develop fresh, engaging ways to incorporate cultural content into their teaching and community work.

The course concludes with a creative presentation, where participants showcase “My Irish Experience” —a reflective piece that synthesises their learning through visual, written, or multimedia expression. This final session celebrates new perspectives, shared discoveries, and the relationships formed throughout the programme.
