  • Listening and Speaking: Watch a TED Talk about workplace diversity and discuss the key ideas presented.
  • Writing and Speaking: Prepare an action plan to ensure the necessary steps are taken to improve the current situation and promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in your educational institution among staff and students.

Course Outline

A comprehensive course aimed at various aspects of inclusion in education settings. It offers the students an opportunity to advance their English language skills while exploring the principles of diversity and inclusion in school environments. Topics include understanding diverse backgrounds and implementing inclusive strategies in the classroom. Students will gain practical communication skills, learn to approach topics confidently and practice methods for cultivating and inclusive school community.

Learning Outcomes

  • Students will be able to discuss different aspects of diversity with some confidence, providing examples and expressing opinions on its impact in society or workplaces.
  • Students will be able to listen to someone talking about their cultural roots, understand ellipsis in conversation, and follow debates on multiculturalism, identifying and discussing key ideas.
  • Students will be able to read articles about gender equality and evaluate the writer’s main points and arguments.
  • Students will be able to participate in a debate about how schools can support LGBTQ+ teachers and students, clearly stating their opinion, providing reasons, and responding to opposing views.
  • Students will be able to research and present information about a famous neurodivergent person, explaining the benefits and challenges of their neurodivergence and how it has shaped their life.
